Technical Art : Tools & Scripting

The Office: Somehow We Mange – East Side Games

The bulk of my tasks on The Office were focused on optimization: optimizing pipelines and processes, building standards, and trying to make things easier for the art team. I focused on 2 tools with that goal in mind; both were an Animate to Unity pipeline, breaking away from a reliance on Spine.

Sprite Atlas Builder (Animate to Unity )

I worked with an existing actionscript commands in Animate and, along with Claude AI, made an incremental sprite atlas builder tool that could be auto-sliced in Unity, using the symbol names. The art team would be able to add more and more art to the file, and the script would re-pack the sprite atlas automatically, ignoring duplicate symbol.

Auto Prefab Builder (Animate to Unity )

I took the previous command even further, and made an auto-prefab tool. Instead of building a sprite atlas, this new tool could export multiple frames, each with their own unique frame label. Then, that frame label is used in Unity to auto build the prefabs.

RuPaul Drag Race Superstars – East Side Games

Drag & Drop Bulk Prefab Tool

My first task as a TA was to optimize the pipeline for the Superstar art team. I put together a basic drag & drop script in Unity that would speed up implementation for fashion items. I created a visual guide for the art team as well, along with documentation and tutorials.
